A Welcome Letter From Danny Bonaventura

Welcome to Mt. Lebanon Athletics! 

At Mt. Lebanon School District, our mission is to provide the best education possible to each and every student. We believe that participation in interscholastic athletics has the ability to enhance the world-class education that our students receive in the classroom. We believe it is integral to develop our student-athletes holistically so that they are prepared for life. We will achieve this through our core values of teamwork, leadership, sportsmanship, respect and honor, discipline, and continuous improvement. 

We care deeply about the health and well-being of our student-athletes. We support this through our partnership with UPMC Sports Medicine, which provides our athletic trainers, and through our partnership with AHN Cool Springs, which provides our strength and conditioning staff. We want to provide a first-class experience for our student-athletes. Our goal is for every student to have an opportunity to compete, build and maintain meaningful relationships, and learn how to overcome adversity and carry themselves with humility in victory. These efforts are led by our coaches, who care deeply about the students they serve.  

We strive to win, but only with honor to our athletes, our school, and our community. It is our belief that each of our varsity programs has the ability to compete for WPIAL and PIAA championships. Mt. Lebanon has an incredible tradition, including 153 WPIAL and 32 PIAA team championships. This does not include the multitude of individual WPIAL and PIAA individual champions over the years. 

We want our student-athletes to be scholars academically, champions athletically, and to thrive personally. Our vision is a relentless pursuit of excellence. We will push our student-athletes to achieve excellence in everything they do, knowing that while excellence is not always attainable, our effort, our attitude, and our dreams are always in our control.
