Rising Sophomore Isla Silva Earns Bronze Medal at U17 World Championships

Mt. Lebanon High School rising sophomore Isla Silva has earned a bronze medal on the world stage, representing Team USA at the 2026 U17 World Wrestling Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Competing against many of the world's top wrestlers, Silva battled through the repechage rounds to earn a spot in the bronze medal match before securing a third-place finish in her weight class.

As a freshman for the Blue Devils, Silva captured a WPIAL championship before becoming the first girls wrestling state champion in Mt. Lebanon history. Alongside teammates Paige Jox and Camilla Hathaway, who each earned bronze medals, Silva helped lead the Blue Devils to a PIAA Girls Wrestling Team Runner-Up finish, marking the first time Mt. Lebanon girls wrestlers earned medals at the state championships.

Silva has continued to build on that momentum at the national and international levels. Earlier this summer, Silva qualified for the U17 World Team, earning the opportunity to represent the United States on wrestling's biggest stage for her age group.
